Whether
in person or online, customers expect to be treated in the same way.
That’s why it is so important to get off to a good start.
Make
sure your client connects to a single person and meets the real you
online. If there’s only one of you, say so, you’ll get brownie points
for being honest and your customers will know they’re getting personal
service.
Answer your customers’ questions:
- What is this?
- Why am I here?
-
How do I find what I’m looking for?
-
Can these people help?
-
Do I actually like them?
How do you answer someone you’ve never met?
- Lose corporate speak. Make it a conversation.
-
Make your point - don’t waffle. Don’t use jargon.
- Make it easy to understand. Split text using headers, bullet
points
and other devices in order to make it digestible. - Stress benefits before features.
Be
organised: planning the content for your website takes time and careful
thought. If you can’t organise it on paper, you can’t organise it
online. The best place to begin is with a site map.
